Bungie has had a tougher week than normal after the developer found itself embroiled in controversy over the prices attached to the recently announced Destiny expansion, The Taken King and one of their developers not coming off well about it in an interview. With Bungie announcing more concrete details for the upcoming expansion and promising to make things right with their fanbase, the developer is bringing back the popular competitive event, Iron Banner, this week for Destiny players along with all new loot to earn....

All of the art was shared online by Bungie’s Senior Artist David Stammel, Character Artist Allan Lee, Artist Chelsea Velazquez, and 3D Artist Sóstenes Reis. Not only does the Destiny artists’ work reflect the wonderfully meticulous craftsmanship that has been present in the weapons, environments, and gear from the very beginning, but the pieces also reveal how richly the title’s style has evolved since its origins. As seen in the gallery below, fans can get a glimpse of some conceptual Titan and Warlock armor done by Allen Lee, some Iron Lord axes put together by David Stammel, and an Iron Lord sigil poster crafted by Chelsea Velazquez....

Destiny devotees might be forgiven for thinking that the league is solely a way to keep players entertained until the game’s next batch of content is ready to be unveiled. However, there’s more to it than that, as the rewards for taking part in the even seem to be intriguing enough to tempt any Guardian to give it a try. Players will be able to earn class-agnostic armour, and there’s a chance that the gear that’s dropped post-game will be rated 320 — something that’s sure to attract plenty of players to try out the new mode....

It’s worth noting that players will likely want to wait before finishing up the Nightfall and other weekly bounties around 10am PDT today as Bungie will be updating the game to increase the light level to 400. Once this update takes effect, rewards generated from completing the Nightfall will be a great source of newly leveled gear! In order to make sure players are sufficiently geared up before all of these changes take effect, here are all of the new playlists, bounties, and everything else players need to know with Destiny for this week....

According to Detective Pikachu visual effects producer Greg Baxter, a number of celebrity voices were tested for the titular character before they ultimately decided to cast Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu. This included Danny DeVito, whose lines as Frank from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia were paired with an animated Pikachu to see if his distinct voice would be a good fit for world’s most popular Pokemon. It’s possible that the Detective Pikachu crew also tested the voice of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for the character....

On Saturday night, reports surfaced that Wood has tested positive for coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19. Wood was matched up with Gobert during the Utah Jazz’s 111-105 win at Detroit one week from tonight, according to The Athletic. Earlier this week, Gobert was named as the NBA’s first player to contract COVID-19, also known as coronavirus. Though the announcement was made Wednesday, the virus is known to stay in a person’s body and become infectious, even after coronavirus symptoms have subsided....

Numerous changes and additions will be made to the game starting with an update accompanying the December 5th launch of the Curse of Osiris expansion. And then even more changes will come the following week, on December 12. Here are the changes players can expect on December 5: Armor Ornaments will be added to some existing Armor sets for more visual customization. This does not remove any shaders or mods already applied to the armor....

Taking to Twitter, Destiny 2 raid team leader Joe Blackburn wanted to offer a bit more information to players who saw a few changes to raid mechanics in the latest sandbox update. Now, fireteams have 2 minutes and thirty seconds to revive fallen teammates inside of a Raid encounter. While the timer refreshes if a fireteam completely wipes, each player also has one token that can be used to revive a teammate....

And yet, despite all this, Season of Plunder has currently one of the lowest concurrent player counts ever for Destiny 2, to the point where the game is no longer in the top 10 or top 5 on Steam, but its current ranking fluctuates between 35 and 40. This prompts reflection on Bungie’s side to try and acknowledge what went wrong with Season of Plunder as a whole and what Season 19 needs to do to build up the hype in lieu of Lightfall’s imminent release....

As the Season of the Seraph approaches its end and the Lightfall expansion looms over the horizon, Bungie should consider continuing the tradition of live events in Destiny 2. Holding a live event before the launch of Lightfall has several benefits, as it can generate hype and excitement for the upcoming expansion. This is especially important as Lightfall marks the end of the current storyline and the beginning of a new one....

The reveal then moved to Destiny 2’s Season of the Lost and its content, showing what the seasonal activities are and what to expect from the narrative arc for major characters, such as Osiris, Savathun, and Queen Mara. What is really interesting about Season of the Lost, however, is that the relationship between Mara Sov and Savathun is highlighted in a way that is very much in line with Destiny 2’s storytelling so far....

Now the Traveler is once again threatened by the Almighty’s impending collision, and it’s up to the Guardians to defend Earth and the Traveler once more. While players will likely take part in Earth’s epic defense in Season of the Worthy, several eyes look to the Traveler in a time where any kind of understanding or communication with it is gone entirely. In the Season of the Splicer, Guardians are forced to contend with the Vex once more. The Vex have managed to plunge the Last City into an endless night, threatening the safety of humanity. Ikora reveals that a past ally, Mithrax, is one of the last remaining Sacred Splicers and possesses the knowledge to properly combat the Vex. In addition to his help, Guardians will be working with the Vanguard to harness Splicer tech in their attempts to repel the Vex incursion....

While Bungie chose not to reveal the new exotic gear pieces for Season of Dawn, Destiny 2 players have quickly uncovered the three new gear pieces and posted them online for those curious. It’s gear focused on the Dawnblade subclass as the exotic perk called Embers of Light creates healing and empowering rifts where defeated enemies or guardians were hit with Daybreak active....

In Destiny 2’s Season of the Splicer, the Vex are the main threat that the Guardians will have to contend with. The Vex have managed to plunge the Earth, and therefore the Last City, into an “endless night.” Ikora suggests teaming with Mithrax, a Splicer, to fight back against the Vex and free the Last City from its endless night. As was the case with Season of the Chosen, fans can expect the storyline to progress from week to week....

The channel’s new video series, titled Destiny: Solas is essentially a story-focused retelling of some of Destiny’s crucial moments in a serious, lore-friendly Machinima style. According to popular gaming filmmaker and Player One Stories creative director, Gage Allen, the team is interested in producing more of these so-called “immersiplay” videos. Unfortunately, the bad news for publisher Activision is that Destiny 2’s struggle will likely lead to lower stock prices for the triple-A publisher. As players and content creators move away from the game, analysis firm Cowen expects Activision will lose out on revenue from in-game sales. While not the first time that Activision’s stock has faced a downward trend, this latest could mean some major changes are headed the company’s way....

After December 8, 2020, Destiny 2 players on the PlayStation 5 and both Xbox Series consoles got a boost resolution and the framerate which was set to 60FPS. Load times also drastically improved, the field of view slider became available, and next gen owners could play with old gen players. In addition, Crucible players saw a major enhancement when Xbox head Phil Spencer and Bungie CEO Pete Parsons revealed that next gen console players would see the popular activity run at 120 FPS....

One of the most important ones that players have become familiar with is the Forsaken campaign. It had major implications in Destiny 2, as it set in motion the narrative that players have experienced over the past couple of years. With the newest ‘This Week At Bungie’ post, it has been announced that Forsaken will be placed within the DCV, which is a giant step to take for the future of Destiny 2....

In an interview with FPS News, Forsaken Project Lead Scott Taylor confirmed that there would be some change to the ammo juggler mechanic with Forsaken. The hidden mechanic has been frustrating fans since the launch of Destiny 2, and one fan even did the math to prove that the mechanic was in the game. While there are no details on what the change will be, or if it will be outright removed, Taylor did say that Bungie will be talking more about that change over the summer....
