Some of the content drop names are being kept secret for now – likely because players have yet to actually experience Destiny 2: Forsaken’s story – but it appears Bungie is going for a cadence that rotates free seasonal updates with paid content additions. Most of these updates will include new weapons, crucible content, and gameplay tweaks, while the Annual Pass add-ons will feature larger story-based experiences and endgame activities....
However, with content being added, Bungie is also vaulting a large portion of the game. Known as the Destiny Content Vault, Bungie’s plan is to essentially remove big chunks of legacy content with some of it potentially making a comeback down the road. Shockingly, nearly 50% of the game is set to be removed including maps, game modes, gear, weapons, and even destinations like Io, Titan, Mercury, and Mars....
Season 8 of Destiny 2 will begin with the launch of Destiny 2’s Shadowkeep expansion. The so-called Season of the Undying will deal with an influx of Vex “pouring out across the surface of the Moon.” This is due to what Smith describes as the events of “JacketQuest,” believed to be Season of Opulence’s Crown of Sorrow raid. The world first completion of the Crown of Sorrow raid rewarded a real-life price of jackets for the full raid team....
This means that some players may have to wait for a long time before that single mod they need is sold by Ada-1, and Destiny 2 is known to be a game where mods can change everything. For example, those gamers who are relatively new to Bungie’s title may find it extremely frustrating to obtain mods they want when the rotation makes it so only one mod from either the Charged with Light or Warmind Cells pools is available....

Following in the footsteps of December’s Curse of Osiris expansion, the second expansion pack for Destiny 2 further increases the level cap to 30. Players can earn XP from any of the game’s activities, whether PvE or PvP, to advance towards this new cap. In terms of player power, the soft level cap will jump from 300 to 340, which means all blue level (rare) gear will drop at a maximum power of 340....
With the launch of the Xbox One X and the continued success of the PlayStation 4 Pro, Bungie is also planning on giving those owners new ways of maximizing that new hardware power. Sunsetting started to get implemented in Destiny 2 with Season of Arrivals in 2020, but its effects weren’t felt until Beyond Light launched a few months later. Bungie hoped to cycle through weapon metas by making older guns and armor fall behind in power level, forcing players to utilize the new loot. While the intentions were good, the vast majority of the community felt the execution of this system left a lot to be desired....
For those that might not be familiar with Destiny raids, the range means that the power level of enemies at the start will be 260 and the final boss sequence will jump up to 280. In most cases, things progress incrementally, assuming that players have acquired some gear during their raid run and jumped up in level. What these means for the most hardcore Destiny 2 players is that they have overleveled far beyond what Bungie anticipated....
In a new statement on its website, Bungie announced that Destiny 2: Beyond Light won’t be hitting its original launch date of September 22. Instead, the highly anticipated expansion is now launching on November 10, placing it in range of major AAA titles like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Cyberpunk 2077. The renowned rocket launcher comes with a new perk called Pack Hunter, which makes nearby allies get Wolfpack Rounds for their non-Exotic rocket launcher, but Gjallarhorn also has a hidden perk and great combos that derive from Pack Hunter. Even though Gjallarhorn is such a great addition to Destiny 2, there is an upcoming reprised sword as part of The Dawning event for this year that will have new perks on it....
This season, however, Bungie did the seemingly impossible by making Trials of Osiris rewarding and fun to play once again. During the first weekend, the people voted simply by showing up, playing more matches than any weekend before (whether in Destiny 2 or the original Destiny), and by playing more consistently each day of the weekend.
