How Escalation Protocol Works The basis of Escalation Protocol is fairly straightforward. Players activate a horde mode (of sorts) that consists of 7 levels, with 4 waves each. At the end of each level is a boss fight with an enemy that usually has a lot of health and requires a lot of players to defeat. And by the time players reach level 7; they will need as much damage as possible....

As such, one of the most interesting aspects of Destiny 2 quickly became the so-called “fashion game,” meaning trying to mix and match armor pieces and other cosmetics in order to create great looks. That’s where the new Iron Banner armor set comes into play. Fans who perform well in the Inverted Spire this week will earn the exotic ghost shell “Trichromatica” – which at first glance looks no different than any of the many Eververse ghost shells that players have accumulated since the launch of Curse of Osiris, save for an elemental glow around the shell. The ghost comes with the “Banshee’s Favorite” perk, which grants telemetries with any elemental weapon kill, a 10% XP buff on Nessus, and the ability to detect caches within 30-meters on Nessus....

When Destiny 2 launched in 2017, the Cabal was at the forefront with the start of the Red War, which saw the Red Legion, led by Dominus Ghaul, entrap the Traveler to take its Light away from all Guardians. Following Ghaul’s defeat, Emperor Calus made several appearances requesting the aid of Guardians while promising them truths and knowledge about the universe that the Traveler has deprived them of. These truths have stemmed from the Darkness, the enemy of the Traveler and the Light....

Bungie and Twitch recently partnered for a unique Destiny 2 bounty reward. Destiny 2 players could gift two subscriptions while watching a Twitch streamer utilizing the official Twitch Destiny Extension to receive a special reward. The reward was a bundle of in-game content, including 5000 glimmer, 3 enhancement cores, 3 Twitch Watchers’ Shade shaders, an exclusive emblem, and most importantly 12,000 XP. It’s the XP that turned out to be a problem....

However, with the newest farming method that seems to have spread through the Destiny 2 community like wildfire, it is probably best to avoid matchmaking into the Forges for now for anyone wanting to complete the activity for legitimate reasons. That’s because this new farming method consists of players going completely idle in the Forges. While matchmaking with other idle players is preferable for those farming the activity, it creates a negative experience for any player wanting to legitimately play the activity....

In the near term, Bungie has revealed that the popular Festival of the Lost event is right around the corner, as it brings back plenty of tricks, treats, and masks for players to unlock and use. This Halloween inspired event is bringing a full-blown costume party to the franchise this time around, and also features a quest that has players investigating a murder. It also appears to be a celebration of heroes lost, no doubt looking back on the events in Forsaken....

At around 1 minute 29 seconds in a new Q&A video with Destiny 2: Forsaken co-directors Steve Cotton and Scott Taylor, a question was posed whether or not Bungie was looking into adding new timed events and exclusive rewards similar to Faction Rallies and Iron Banner. Steve Cotton jumped in and without providing many details, confirmed that Bungie is going to be adding more in the future. Interestingly enough, Cotton’s answer appeared to be linked directly to the annual pass that was announced a couple of months ago along with Forsaken....

Although Bungie has detailed many of the major changes with Update 2.0, especially how they pertain to weapon balancing, there is still some mystery surrounding what will change on the 8th and what will change on the 15th. Luckily, Bungie’s Weekly Update has arrived to provide further clarity. First and foremost, Update 2.0 will deliver all of the previously noted weapon changes. Those include a nerf for Gjallarhorn’s Wolfpack Rounds, a buff for Auto Rifles, and a range decrease for shotgun effectiveness, among other things....

However, one fan has developed a theory as to how Destiny 2 may be able to keep the hero around beyond the current season using Riven’s Wish Wall. Originally introduced inside of the Forsaken expansion, players could access a wall of symbols prior to the first boss encounter inside of the Last Wish raid. Using a specific combination of symbols, players could unlock new modifiers or conditions for the raid similar to an old school cheat code....

Now, the Destiny fan and YouTuber The Great Gatsby has potentially set the bar as high as it can possibly be, by soloing Oryx and coming out on top. As seen in the video below, the task was not an easy one, as he employed a variety of strategies to ensure victory. [HTML1] Essentially, after skipping the platforming section by guiding the vessel knight away from the light orbs so they wouldn’t be absorbed by the enemy, and by utilizing the self-resurrection super each time the orbs exploded, the old sport made the run look deceptively simple....

Although Xbox users undoubtedly felt left out by Destiny’s PlayStation-focused content, there were plenty of signs that the features would arrive after a set period of time. Bungie has previously stated that PlayStation-exclusive content would remain in the Sony-only club until at least Fall 2015, giving Xbox One and Xbox 360 players cause to expect the bonus content. Now, with that date fast approaching, Bungie has revealed that the content will not only come to Microsoft console owners, but will arrive with new features....

What Are Skeleton Keys In Year 2, Bungie introduced the concept of strike specific loot - unique armor and weapons that would have a random chance of dropping after beating the strike’s main boss. However, with the launch of Rise of Iron, Destiny has done away with the random drops and replaced them with a guaranteed drop in the form of a chest that appears after every main boss kill....

Destiny’s speedrunning community isn’t large by any stretch of the imagination, but it is dedicated, and that commitment is on full display whenever one of its premier talents uploads a video of them blazing through missions that take most players ten-to-twenty times longer. JukesAndStuff, one of those exceptional talents, has become so good they’ve taken to one-upping themselves as a challenge. The popular speedrunner uploaded a video this week of them cruising through a solo Scourge of Winter run at a time of 2 minutes and 12 seconds, a new personal best for the Guardian....

Mantle Up Ledges Destiny 2 will be adding a new mantle mechanic, which triggers an animation if the player falls just short of a jump near the edge of a platform, and pulls them up onto that ledge. Here it is in action: Gamers who played Halo 5: Guardians will be familiar with the feature, as it was added by Bungie’s successor on the Master Chief franchise, 343 Industries. News of the clamber mechanic made its way out the Destiny 2 reveal event and E3, but this is one of the best shots of it in action....

Strand is all about traversal abilities and moving freely in one’s surroundings by tapping into what Bungie developers called the “cosmic web,” which connects everything. Lightfall’s Strand allows Destiny 2 players to use a grappling hook-like ability that can be attached on any surface and at any given time, and that’s precisely what the aforementioned cosmic web is all about - allowing Strand users to weave anything into reality all the time....

Experiencing these things during The Witch Queen expansion is intense for veteran players and New Lights alike. It’s a pivot from everything Guardians have been told is true, and it feels like it greatly contradicts what players have learned so far in Destiny 2. The changes that Destiny 2 has gone through following The Witch Queen have also provided a better perspective on some of the game’s most powerful characters....

According to a post on Bungie’s official Help page, Destiny 2 will be down for maintenance on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, starting at 7:00 AM PT / 10:00 AM ET / 3:00 PM GMT, at which point players will no longer be able to log in across the title’s PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions. An hour later, anyone playing when maintenance began will be booted offline, but it shouldn’t be for too long, as Bungie expects repairs to be completed around 12:00 PM PT....

At the moment during matchmaking, solo players are getting teamed up against co-ordinated fireteams instead of getting matched up against other solo players or getting matched up with other co-ordinated fireteams. This inevitably causes a lot of frustration for solo players, as it increases their chances of losing Iron Banner matches, which makes it hard to increase their standing with Lord Saladin and earn exclusive Season 3 Iron Banner rewards....
