The tweet in question can be seen below, but it has since been removed from Twitter after staying on the service for three hours. It seems as though Twitter users didn’t respond well to the Detroit: Become Human stunt, with one person even referring to it as “childish garbage.”
In the past, playful jabs between the console makers were not met with such a negative response. As some may recall, Sony was praised for making fun of Xbox One’s original policies of not playing used games and being an always-online system. Microsoft has also thrown shade Sony’s way, specifically about the PS4 Pro’s lack of power when compared to Xbox One X.
So, some may be confused about the negative reception to the Detroit: Become Human tweet. It seems as though where this particular tweet went wrong is that it’s not necessarily taking a jab just at Microsoft itself, but Xbox One owners specifically. Essentially, the tweet is belittling Xbox One owners for owning the system that can’t play Detroit: Become Human.
Based on what we’ve seen from Detroit: Become Human’s E3 2017 demo and past footage of the game, Quantic Dream has plenty of reason to be proud of its product. However, it may want to avoid insulting gamers and potential customers when promoting it.
Detroit: Become Human will launch in 2018, exclusively for PlayStation 4.
