While Destiny players on the Xbox received the game’s two expansion packs, The Taken King and Rise of Iron at the same time as PlayStation owners, certain content (such as exotic weapons, maps, and missions) had a year of exclusivity on PlayStation as per the aforementioned deal between Activision and Sony before being released on Xbox. This year-long wait soon turned to two, as Sony and Activision quietly pushed the PlayStation-exclusive content back another year.
Here’s a full list of items and content from The Taken King that is now (finally) available to Destiny players on Xbox:
Jade Rabbit, an exotic scout rifle Zen Meteor, an exotic sniper rifle Sector 618, a Crucible map set on Earth Echo Chamber, a strike on Venus Sublime Engram armor sets for each of the three classes “Fight Fire with Fire” quest from Petra Venj
As for content from Rise of Iron, here’s a full list of what is now available on Xbox One:
Icarus, a Crucible map set on Mercury Iron Camelot armor for all classes from Dusty Iron Engrams “Show of Strength” quest from Tyra Karn
Xbox owners will undoubtedly be glad to finally get their hands on all this Destiny content following a longer-than-expected two-year wait, but the timing is a little unfortunate, as all this has come after the release of Destiny 2. Given how the console launch of Destiny 2 is the biggest of 2017 (so far), it does mean that the delayed release of the original game’s content for Xbox is a bit redundant given that players are now clamoring to play Bungie’s highly-anticipated Destiny sequel instead.
In regards to post-launch content for Destiny 2, Xbox owners can expect a case of deja vu as PlayStation 4 owners will be receiving exclusive content first. Hopefully history won’t repeat itself, and Xbox and PC Destiny 2 players won’t have to wait two years to receive all the planned PlayStation-exclusive content.
Destiny is available now for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
