But while the DLC will introduce a wealth of new content into the game, the arrival of House of Wolves will throw one temporary kink into the works when it comes to currently available content. Bungie announced today on its forum that there will be no weekly, Nightfall, or daily activities available in the 8 hours between the weekly reset (2am PT Tuesday) and the official release of the new patch.
The post was made in response to a fan who was confused about the reset time for certain events given that House of Wolves is set to go live at 10 A.M. PDT on the 19th. To map it out further, the previous week’s events will end at 2 a.m. PDT, early Tuesday morning, as scheduled. So, there will then be an 8 hour period where the new Nightfall Strike, Weekly Heroic Strike, and Daily Story Mission content are not available. The move makes sense, especially if Bungie intends to include the new Shadow Thief strike as the new Nightfall.
But this being Destiny, of course, that’s not stopping some fans from complaining about the eight hour gap. User HalfListic wrote:
Despite the mild outcry from some, it’s hard not to see this move from Bungie’s perspective. Destiny now has more than 20 million players, plenty of whom play on a daily basis. A presumably large amount of that number will be eager to get going once House of Wolves arrives. The 8 hour gap could potentially provide a smoother transition for the entire player base, as Bungie is more likely to have all hands on deck for any server issues at 10 a.m. instead of 2 a.m. Considering that online games like Destiny are known to run into server and even hacking problems every now and then, it’s hard to fault Bungie for taking the extra time here.
Destiny is out now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. House of Wolves releases at 10 a.m. PST on May 19.
