For those unaware, Thorn has been an exotic hand cannon since the first year of the original Destiny, but it has a rather troubled history as it has frequently been considered either too overpowered or too weak, only to shift paradigms as a new patch nerfs or buffs it accordingly.

The art is great, giving a realistic look at Thorn, although the scene is somewhat funny, as rather than a stoic guardian wielding it, there’s an anime girl instead. Still, the design is awesome and was a good find on the part of @ranta018.
The manga in question is titled Oroka na Tenshi wa Akuma to Odoru, and this panel comes from Volume 2 Chapter 8. This particular story sees the characters playing a virtual reality game involving zombies that, rather than eating their victims, desperately try to kiss their targets. Other characters use the gun too, as it seems to be the primary weapon available in this fake virtual reality game, but its visual similarities to Destiny’s Thorn gun are undeniable. It’s worth noting that this is by no means a new development, as this particular manga has been out for a while now.
Other readers have noticed the inclusion of the gun as well, though it seems to be much less effective in the manga, as its bullets are swatted away by a cat. In the game, Thorn fires piercing rounds that also add a damage over time effect to enemies they hit. It was notorious in Destiny for being the only hand cannon capable of killing in the crucible with only two headshots rather than three, a trait which resulted in a subsequent nerf. It returns in Destiny 2, more powerful than it was before, and still a fan favorite.
It is always nice to see a video game referenced in other forms of media such as manga and anime, and this is but one example of that happening. Destiny is still incredibly popular despite its flaws, though players have been getting increasingly frustrated with the game as of late.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
