The original description of Oathkeeper’s exotic perk Adamantine Brace reads: “Bows charge faster, and charges can be held indefinitely.” But what Destiny 2 players have noticed through use and testing is that the “bows charge faster” part of the perk is not accurate and it does not give any (or at least not noticeable) faster draw time. There is no noticeable difference between a bow drawn with Oathkeeper on and with them off.

It wasn’t long before players began reporting the issue and Bungie’s development team said it was looking into a fix. Unfortunately, a fix is not coming that will make bows draw faster. Instead, Bungie is rewriting the exotic’s perk description to focus on the fact that players can hold a perfect bow draw indefinitely for max damage, which was one part of the exotic perk to begin with.

After Bungie’s initial response, players had hoped that the developer would fix the Oathkeeper gauntlets to ensure that bows do actually draw noticeably faster. Not only are many disappointed by the response, but it keeps Oathkeeper in a very weak spot among extremely powerful exotics like One-Eyed Mask, Shards of Galanor, Geomag Stabilizers, and Contraverse Hold.

Players want exotics that add to the power experience of Destiny 2, giving them a reason to swap between armor pieces, not just stick to a small group of top-tier items. Bungie said in its post on the Destiny subreddit that it would “continue to monitor this feedback,” and based on the fact that the thread has gotten more than 700 comments at the time of this writing, there should be plenty of that feedback to field when it comes to the Oathkeeper gauntlets.

Destiny 2: Forsaken is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
