One such method of rewarding those most engaged Destiny 2 users is to incentivize prestige activities. Details surrounding how Bungie plans to tweak this system are still under wraps for now, but it’s assumed that once the system is tweaked, Destiny 2 will become a more rewarding experience for players who decide to take on a Prestige Nightfall or Raid. Currently, the only benefit to a Prestige activity is an extra drop (or drops) and an aura that lasts for the week.
Unlike many of the other fixes, enhancements, and changes that are coming in the next two weeks, this change to the prestige difficulty system won’t actually be coming until sometime in January. While Bungie hasn’t given a specific reason for why this update is delayed beyond everything else, it could be the fact that the studio wants to make sure it gets the new system right on the first try. It could also be that this change wasn’t as high of a priority on its list as some of these other issues.
Either way, it appears that Bungie has been listening to the community and plans to implement several radical and welcomed changes to improve the Destiny 2 experience for all players. A new masterwork tier for weapons brings back randomized and re-rollable stat bonuses, providing an additional level of reward for players as well as giving them more control over weapon customization. Season 2 of Destiny 2 also plans to introduce new vendor inventory, the return of the ornament system for loot, better replay value for activities like Lost Sectors, and much more.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
