The immediate pushback and uproar moved Bungie to quickly react who announced that it would disable the artifact power for Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner going forward. While the first weekend Today marks that particular day as Bungie just ended planned maintenance and released hotfix 2.8.0.1 for Destiny 2.

Unlike last week’s update, this one is fairly tiny. According to patch notes, the hotfix includes two changes to the base game. The first addresses the Artifact Power situation by disabling it going forward for both Trials of Osiris and the upcoming Iron Banner activities. The second fix makes the missing hidden triumph for the Almighty seal visible for all players.

Trials of Osiris opened its doors for the first time in years this past weekend, enabling both power and the artifact enhanced power. While that went off without a hitch thanks to players being aware of the impending change to the artifact power, new complaints arose once players discovered the type of loot that was waiting for fireteams who managed to go flawless. Many in the community were hoping to see a return to adept weapons, a Destiny 1 staple that gave the gun a new cosmetic look, different elemental damage, and unique intrinsic perks.

However, that turned out to not be the case as those special Adept weapons were not actually added to the game at all. Instead, players received a piece of rotating weekly Trials gear. What makes this sting a bit worse than usual is that it was also revealed that Season 10 got rid of the Crucible, Vanguard, and Gambit ritual weapons, but the new weapons have underwhelming perk selections. This is especially true when the Seraph weapons are compared to last season’s Timelost weapons, which could be grinded through the obelisk system for some truly god-roll style perks.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
