Some daring and talented Destiny 2 players seem to laugh in the face of the Nightfall timer, though, completing speedruns, to show off how fast they can complete the activity. The record for world’s fastest Nightfall Strike has been broken several times in the past couple of days. On October 30, the fireteam including Turner Tfue and Modern Tryhard set the record at 4:46 on The Arms Dealer Strike on PC.
This 4:46 time was the third time that the fireteam had broken the record over the last week. On October 28 they set the record at 4:58 and the next day, on October 29, they beat it again and got 4:54. The fireteam kept on grinding through the activity just to solidify their world record.
However, there is some controversy surrounding the record-setting time as viewers have called the fireteam out for allegedly using a Wardcliff Coil ‘glitch’. This so-called glitch lets players take advantage of the way that ammo percentages are calculated in the game and allows players to have more Power ammo than they should have. There is must debate among Destiny 2 players over whether it is a glitch, an exploit, or just an intended feature.
Because of that debate, world’s fastest times and world first completions are often disputed by members of the Destiny 2 community. It most recently occurred with the world’s first completion of the Prestige Leviathan raid. In that case, developer Bungie said that it would be leaving it up to Destiny 2 fans to decide whether the fans should honor the world’s first record. In that case - and in this new case of the world’s fastest Nightfall Strike - some are choosing to ignore the setting of the record altogether.
On the one hand, it’s disappointing to fans who had hoped that most fireteams would stay away from the Wardcliff Coil glitch, for the sake of fairness. But on the other hand, it’s positive to see that there is so much competition among Destiny 2 players and that fireteams are continuing to battle over world records in the game. The arrival of Leviathan raid challenges is only going to lead to more records being set (and broken) so fans have that to look forward too.
