One of the biggest benefits of a hybrid weapon like Revision Zero is that it would allow players to adapt to different situations on the fly. For example, suppose an enemy is too close for a traditional sniper rifle; the player could switch to the pulse rifle mode and take them out at a closer range. Conversely, the sniper rifle mode would be more effective if an enemy is at a distance. Considering Destiny 2’s gun frames that determine a gun’s rate of fire, it will be interesting to see if Revision Zero’s different firing modes share the same type of frame.

Revision Zero Will Technically Allow Players To Have Two Special Ammo Weapons

One interesting aspect of the Revision Zero is that it would likely be a kinetic weapon, meaning it would take up the slot typically reserved for primary weapons. This means players would have access to special weapon slot firepower while using the Revision Zero. A gun that uses both primary and special ammo is practically unheard of in Destiny 2. That said, it provides players the unique opportunity to have a primary weapon, a sniper rifle, and whatever other special ammo weapon they desire—a definite first for the live-service fps. It would also be nice to see craftable hybrid guns in Destiny 2 as well.

Another potential advantage of Revision Zero is that it could offer overall increased damage output compared to using a pulse rifle and sniper rifle separately. By combining the strengths of both types of rifles into one, players may find it easier to do good damage more regularly. This could make the hybrid rifle, and future hybrid guns, highly sought-after in PvE modes. That would be especially true during Raids, where players would benefit from having more than just one special ammo weapon from a damage-per-second standpoint.

Multiple Catalysts Gives Revision Zero Far More Customization Than Other Exotics

The fact that Revision Zero has multiple catalysts unlocks extra depth to Destiny 2’s hybrid weapon customization. Each catalyst would likely add unique buffs and features to the Revision Zero, allowing players to customize the gun to their play style more than usual. This would give players more options and enable them to experiment with different loadouts and builds. Now, it is very likely that Revision Zero won’t allow the use of its sniper rifle mode as soon as a player picks up special ammo. What is more expected is for Revision Zero to charge sniper rifle rounds over time as the player acquires kills or does specific amounts of damage with the pulse rifle mode.

Of course, it is unclear precisely how Revision Zero will perform in the game or what its specific capabilities will be. However, the potential for a hybrid sniper rifle to be a game-changer in Destiny 2 is definitely there. Whether players will flock to the weapon remains to be seen, but it’s certain to be an exciting addition to the game. Here’s hoping the quest behind acquiring Revision Zero is relatively easy to complete so more players can experience this innovative gun.
