Since the launch of Destiny 2, fans have been clamoring for any sort of news on SRL or the Sparrow Racing League. Bungie has continued to be mum on the subject, though thanks to the recently released seasonal calendar, the upcoming Dawning event may provide a major clue.

The annual holiday event returns to Destiny 2 on December 17 and the thumbnail shows a Guardian riding a bobsled inspired sparrow. While players could easily interpret this image to simply be an advertisement for some of the new seasonal content that will no doubt be on sale with Tess Everis at the Eververse store, the tiny picture holds even more clues. Looking beyond the guardian, it also depicts two more characters riding sparrows in the background, implying the three racing each other. Either way, fans only have to wait a couple short weeks for the answer.

Sparrow League Racing was a short lived, yet very popular mode in the original Destiny. It first made its appearance as part of the three week Dawning holiday event back in 2015 and then again the following year with refreshed tracks and new prizes. However, that appeared to be the end of the mode as it went on hiatus and has remained there ever since.

In addition to the possible return of SRL, the Content Calendar also makes it clear that Bungie isn’t adding a new Raid this season. While that may no doubt disappoint some players, the change in strategy makes sense considering the amount of work an activity like that requires. As an alternative, it appears that two new exotic quests for Bastion and Devil’s Ruin have been added instead, hinting at an alternating schedule for raids and exotic quests. While fans don’t yet know the extent of these quests, it could mean the return of specific exotic missions on par with standouts like Zero Hour or Whisper of the Worm.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
