Fans have been eager to learn more about the final season in Shadowkeep’s four-season arc for a long time. Season of the Worthy left a lot to be desired for most players and Bungie refrained from revealing major features for Season of Arrivals until it launched. The studio usually reveals seasonal content a week before it is released but this time Bungie opted to showcase the summer season alongside Beyond Light, Destiny 2’s annual expansion.

The community expects a lot from Season of Arrivals not only because Season of the Worthy underdelivered but also since Bungie had stated that Season 11 would be “like no other time in Destiny” in a previous Destiny 2 Shadowkeep ViDoc. It was speculated that this season would tie in closely to the Beyond Light expansion and that this was why Bungie decided to reveal them both together. It turns out fans were right and Season of Arrivals will act as a prelude to the fall expansion. The gameplay trailer is below:

All destinations will prominently feature pyramid ships as players will “make first contact” with the Darkness in invasion-like public events. Also, at 5pm Pacific Time, a brand new dungeon called Prophecy will launch. It is themed around the Nine and offers an exclusive Daito foundry themed armor set (which was originally an Eververse set) alongside the previously retired Trials of the Nine armor sets from Destiny 2 year 1.

The dungeon takes place in a “strange dimension” and “has reality bending” encounters. It will likely heavily tie into the lore as players are said to “discover the nature of darkness” in this activity. It will be free for all players but will require a high Light Level to complete. The dungeon can be previewed below, but be warned, as it may contain spoilers regarding certain encounters.

Numerous patch notes regarding loot acquisition and gameplay balance changes were provided beforehand but today the community got the first official look at the final season of Shadowkeep and it seems to bring the year to a crescendo as well as a cliff hanger.

Destiny 2 and Season of Arrivals is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
