Several of the best weapons to craft are from the new Raid, Vow of the Disciple, which features incredible weapon perks and one of the best Origin Traits available in Destiny 2. Among these weapons, one of the most outstanding is a Special grenade launcher called Forbearance, and the reason why it can be so good is that its perk pool includes both Ambitious Assassin and Chain Reaction, which can roll together. This combo is particularly good on grenade launchers, just as Salvager’s Salvo proved back in Season of the Chosen, to the point that Bungie acknowledged just how strong it was. In fact, Forbearance manages to be even better than Salvager’s Salvo.

How Forbearance Became a Better Salvager’s Salvo
The fact that Forbearance can be a better Salvager’s Salvo is a weird occurrence given that the latter was widely considered one of the best weapons in the game ever since its release, but Bungie decided not to nerf it because it was meant to be a pinnacle reward. Still, Destiny 2’s developer did comment on how powerful the gun was by saying that it wasn’t its intention to make more of the same in the near future, with the developer not wanting to break the game’s delicate balance.
Forbearance is a Solar-damage Wave Frame grenade launcher, which in and of itself is a better frame for add-clearing purposes because it shoots an elemental fiery wave on the ground, damaging enemies in its wake. In fact, weapons like Deafening Whisper and the new Dead Messenger are very popular options to defeat hordes of Destiny 2 enemies, and the fact that Forbearance can roll Chain Reaction means that it can fully clear a room of adds in a single shot.
On top of that, Ambitious Assassin makes it even stronger by allowing Forbearance to have 2 shots in the magazine at once, launching two waves in a short span of time to make for an even deadlier combination than that of Salvager’s Salvo. The Season 13 pinnacle weapon is a Lightweight Frame grenade launcher instead, meaning that players still need to land the shot on an enemy to then proc the explosion from Chain Reaction. Wave Frames can still miss if the target moves away from the area of effect, but Forbearance’s innate high projectile velocity makes it less likely.
Lastly, Destiny 2’s new Raid Origin Trait, which also comes on Forbearance by default, restores health to its wielder based on the number of successful hits when the weapon is reloaded. On an Ambitious Assassin/Chain Reaction Forbearance, this translates into a lot of health recovered after reloading, especially thanks to the explosions and the 2 shots in the mag. As such, the new Raid grenade launcher is not only similar to Salvager’s Salvo with a specific roll, but it surpasses it in terms of power and utility, rapidly becoming one of the best weapons in Destiny 2 for the time being.
Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
