With Destiny 2 being in a good place for over a year, having this lore-heavy character go down after a couple of Anarchy shots with Breach and Clear, followed by Thundercrash, Chaos Reach, or Golden Gun, would be sad. Pieces of the puzzle are likely already set in stone by now, but Bungie should take this opportunity to make the most out of a character that is so important to the events of past storylines. As such, Quria should be a Strike boss, or maybe a Dungeon or Raid boss; something that lives up to the hype built by Bungie thus far.

Destiny 2’s Fight With Quria, and How This Might Not be Her End

Thematically speaking, it would make sense for Quria to be an Override or Expunge boss, but at the same time that would be underselling a great character for the sake of making the fight accessible to every Guardian. While that is something that would make sense, on the other hand Quria deserves more, and especially so now that Savathun is becoming a tangible threat as well.

There are a few ways that the Quria showdown can pan out, and one could involve players capturing her or maybe having her escape at the end of the encounter. Osiris did propose everyone should capture Quria instead of destroying her, and either of these options could make this seemingly inevitable fight a small step in the direction of taking care of the Vex Mind permanently. These solutions would also offer the opportunity for players to actually feel the power that Quria can harness, rather than simply seeing her blow up after a single encounter.

Another option is that players end up destroying Quria this Season, while still not seeing the last of her. This could happen if Quria, who has the power to Take and is inherently linked to both the Hive and Darkness itself, happened to have her own spot in the Ascendant Plane. The Ascendant Plane is an interesting place that makes powerful entities with ties to the Darkness, such as Savathun and Oryx, able to create their own throne worlds. If said entities were to be slain in the material world, their soul would transfer to their throne world, allowing them to regain their strength in time and eventually come back to life.

This would make a lot of sense because Quria was first conceived by the Vex to answer a question, as they sought to understand how the Hive’s Sword Logic worked and what it meant. Using the Sword Logic, entities can create their throne world within the Ascendant Plane, and it would only make sense for Quria to be able to do so as well. This means that even if the fight with Quria ends up being underwhelming, Destiny 2 could make up for that in the future.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
