Currently, Bungie has lifted weekly reward limits on five raids, including the popular Leviathan campaign. However, when one player tried to farm the Castellum section of the raid, he found that Bungie did not lift all of the loot restrictions for this year’s Moments of Triumph event. After he was unable to grind for the Castellum’s Acrius catalyst, SixthDayBrewing took to Twitter to ask the developers if this limit was intentional.

Destiny 2’s design lead Tom Farnsworth addressed the question on his own Twitter thread, where he expressed his happiness at Bungie’s work and fan reception to the Season of Arrivals updates. When SixthDayBrewing asked if players can farm the Acrius catalyst, Farnsworth confirmed that the catalyst is not obtainable on re-runs.

When another player asked if this restriction applies to every exotic catalyst, Farnsworth confirmed that was the case. Specifically, players can currently grind for armor, exotics and weapons, but catalysts and secret chests are off limits. However, in his response, the Bungie head confirmed that he and his team “are discussing options” for the future.

In a Reddit compilation of all this information, fans expressed some confusion about the conditions of these limits. One Reddit user, for example, pointed out that a party was able to earn the Skyburner’s Oath catalyst on their third and fourth runs through the Castellum. Others even claimed that they were able to collect the troublesome Acrius catalyst during their own grinds. After scanning the original Twitter thread, one commenter guessed that Farnsworth was referring to the seals that commemorate encounter completions, which would explain why catalysts like Skyburners are still accessible.

Although the restrictions on raid farming might be disappointing to hardcore Destiny 2 players, the limits are understandable. After all, as Farnsworth noted, the Destiny 2 team is operating under “extraordinary” conditions, and its releases may not be flawless. Hopefully, Bungie is able to address these limitations for future raids in the later weeks of Moments of Triumph.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
