With this in mind, it’s easy to see how game-breaking issues crop up, like that of the weird interaction between Destiny 2’s Exotic fusion rifle Telesto and one of the new seasonal mods called Thermoclastic Blooming. This was quickly found by Bungie, with the developer disabling the gun and the mod for further investigation, which often happens in situations like that. Another example is that of the interaction between the Warlocks’ Exotic gloves called Necrotic Grip and Thorn, which are strong due to a glitch that Bungie chose to leave in the game.

However, the Necrotic Grip are now under the spotlight for a different reason, as they now seem to spread explosions and burning effects when used with bottom tree Dawnblade. The gloves normally spread poison damage over time on kill, but the Exotic’s wording changed in Season of the Lost, so it is now unclear whether this is a bug or an intended interaction. Given the extent of the damage spread and how easily this happens, it’s likely the former, meaning that Bungie might already be aware of this and could be looking for a solution.
As YouTuber and Destiny 2 content creator Ehroar shows in a video, Necrotic Grip spread their innate poison effect as well as the Dawnblade’s burns and explosions. This works with the Warlock’s Igniting Touch melee burn and Fated for the Flames perks, with them apparently also working on grenade kills, creating chain reaction explosions that can potentially clear whole rooms. As such, even if this is intended, it is very likely to be toned down a bit to be more on par with other Exotic choices for the Warlock and other classes.
With all the issues going on in Destiny 2’s Season of the Lost, like how players can’t get Platinum Rewards from this week’s The Corrupted Nightfall, it would make sense for Necrotic Grip to be bugged as well. Ultimately, players should wait and see if Bungie acknowledges the issue in the next few days before making builds around this interaction.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
