The renown system is new to Faction Rally with season three of Destiny 2. Players earn renown through public events, patrols, and high value targets, and can then cash in the renown at a lost sector chest for a large pool of faction tokens. However, the reliance on public events creates a necessity to quickly navigate patrol areas. Players cannot fast travel with the renown effect active, so they have to travel on foot or sparrow. But if a world has no public events going, or if there are no players in an instance, those farming renown are stuck doing patrols until they reach level five renown.

The renown system is unique and adds an interesting level of difficulty to public events, lost sectors, and patrols, as players are debuffed when carrying higher stacks of renown. Some players are relying on health-boosting abilities or exotics, like the Crimson hand cannon. It makes exploring the world much more difficult, and is making players spend a fair amount of time working on farming tokens.

Hopefully, Bungie will address this issue with the next faction rally, if not sooner. Players need to be able to quickly move around the map or worlds to farm renown to get all of the faction loot. With players only being able to pledge to one faction per account, players want to make sure they get all the tokens they can before the end of the event so they can pledge to a new faction next go around.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
