Last week, Bungie detailed the changes coming to Destiny 2’s weapons, which will receive a few buffs when it comes to their archetypes. There will be more in-depth adjustments to some Exotics as well, with guns like Whisper of the Worm and Arbalest likely defining the new meta when the Anniversary Pack drops in December. However, today’s TWAB is all about abilities and Supers, and both of them are undergoing a major rebalancing that makes them very different from what players are accustomed to.

As the TWAB highlights, one of the main goals of the tweaks being made in preparation for the sandbox patch that accompanies the 30th Anniversary Pack is that abilities and Supers will now have different cooldowns. Up until now, Destiny 2’s grenades, for example, were all sharing the same cooldown regardless of their power and their power, whereas now they will have cooldowns that vary based on what the grenade is set to do and how meaningful its effect is when throwing it. The same principle will now apply to melee abilities and Supers, making build much more diverse than before, as well as making every choice more important than ever.

Super energy will now regenerate faster for some Supers and slower for others in order to further differentiate them based on their power gap across the board. Thus, Supers are now divided into tiers, with Tier 5 Supers being the fastest to pop back up and Tier 1 being the slowest. This is only a small part of the changes coming to Destiny 2’s abilities as a whole, and Stasis is also getting some adjustments to make it less oppressive in PvP, but also more enticing in PvE.

The TWAB also addresses the fact that Destiny 2 will be leaving Xbox Game Pass in December, and Bungie states that there will be sales soon for those who want to purchase Beyond Light and other expansions. This makes sense on one hand, but it can also be problematic on the other for those who cannot fork extra cash on the game during the holiday season.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
