While, on one hand, that offered a change of pace to raiding, as time has passed, many fans have agreed that they miss the epic boss fights from the first game’s raids. Bungie says it has heard the feedback loud and clear. Community manager Cozmo took to the Destiny subreddit to let fans know that the raid team is very aware that fans want the chance to test their power and teamwork against some big baddies in Destiny 2’s future:

Many of Destiny 1’s raids featured two main bosses: Vault of Glass had Templar and Atheon, Crota’s End had the Deathsinger and Crota, and Wrath of the Machine had Vosik and Aksis. King’s Fall was different with four bosses, but all of those raids also had encounters that weren’t focused on bosses, much like Leviathan’s, but they were placed between those epic fights.

With the release of Leviathan raid and the Eater of Worlds raid lair, players have found themselves facing only one substantial boss for the entire experience. Whether Bungie intended it or not, it has presented a trend with the sequel of having the raids focus less on bosses and more on puzzle encounters.

Bungie’s acknowledgment of the feedback doesn’t necessarily equal a commitment to change that, but Bungie has been on a recent course of trying harder to give fans what they want. And statements by those in attendance of this past week’s Bungie Summit (where Bungie invited community leaders to come talk about the state of Destiny 2 and its future) said that Bungie was very receptive to their thoughts. Hopefully, that means raids and much of the game will improve as time goes on.

Destiny 2 and its Curse of Osiris expansion are available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Its next expansion, Warmind, launches on May 8, 2018.
